Cancellation Watch 2012

Cancellation Watch 2012

Cancellation Watch:  The axe has been dropped.

Three new shows (666 Park Avenue, Last Resort, and Partners) have been given the ol’ heave-ho, although the two ABC dramas will be given the opportunity to wrap up their storylines before being permanently excised from the schedule. A trio of shows (Ben & Kate, Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23, and The Mindy Project) are posting ratings that make them look unlikely to make it past this season alive. One show (90210) is back in jeopardy, another recent returnee (Whitney) premiered to disappointing numbers, and a previous disappointment (Vegas) has raised back into the audience’s good graces.

Anyway, for good or bad, here’s a quick rundown of how every network show is doing so far:

(Numbers are complicated, and often incomprehensible, so I’ll break it down into general categories.)

Banished to TV Oblivion:  666 Park Avenue, Animal Practice, Last Resort, Made in Jersey, Partners, and Private Practice

Calling It Quits After This Season:  30 Rock, Fringe, Gossip Girl, and The Office

Probably Gonna Get Canceled:  Ben & Kate, Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23, Emily Owens M.D., Guys With Kids, The Mindy Project, The Mob Doctor, Nikita, and Up All Night

Not Looking So Hot:  90210, and Whitney

Doin’ Fine:  Everything else

Picked Up For a Full Season:  Arrow, Beauty & the Beast, Ben & Kate, Chicago Fire, Elementary, Go On, The Mindy Project, Nashville, The Neighbors, The New Normal, Revolution, and Vegas

Already Renewed for Another Season:  American Dad, The Big Bang Theory, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and The Simpsons
